Evidence: Internship Surprise
As I have grown in college, one thing that has been important to me is making others happy. I love
putting a smile on someone's face, or making them feel loved and important. In this photo, I was
working with my fellow interns to create a birthday surprise for our partner and director. This was
such a unique experience, because it was my second day of work and we were already off and running
with an exciting task like this. I could only think of the joy that would spread across their face when
they saw all the obnoxious decorations, and how excited they would be to know that we had spent the
previous night hanging up silly streamers just to make them happy.
As a group of interns, we were tasked with this birthday surprise together. I became a de facto group leader, seeing who would be best at which tasks and delegating them appropriately. I asked the tallest intern to hang the higher decorations, and asked the other girl intern to help me with the overall design because she had a knack for that. I was able to see what their strengths and weaknesses were and apply the tasks effectively, while also working with joy and excitement to get our task done effectively.
